A Community of Friends (ACOF) consistently demonstrates its commitment to building brighter futures through supportive housing and essential services across Southern California. Central to their success are vital partnerships that amplify their impact. One notable collaboration involves the Latino Alliance For Animal Care Coalition, joining forces with ACOF and other organizations to deliver crucial pet wellness services directly to residents, showcasing a holistic approach to community support. This partnership highlights how targeted initiatives contribute significantly to the well-being of individuals and families within ACOF communities.
Pet Wellness Clinics: A Vital Collaboration
Between May 2023 and August 2024, ACOF, enabled by generous grant funding and donations, successfully hosted six pet wellness clinics and specialized Spay/Neuter clinics. These vital events took place across multiple ACOF properties, including locations in Boyle Heights, Pacoima, North Hills, South Los Angeles, and Lincoln Heights.
This significant undertaking was achieved through a dedicated partnership between ACOF, betterTogether Forever, and the Latino Alliance For Animal Care Coalition. Together, these organizations provided a comprehensive range of services aimed at improving the health and well-being of residents’ pets. Services included essential vaccinations, flea treatments, nail trimming, deworming, vital microchipping, medically necessary grooming, and even emergency care when required. Beyond direct health services, the clinics also served as distribution points for pet food and toys. Furthermore, pet owners received invaluable information and resources concerning responsible animal care, emphasizing the critical importance of microchipping, spaying, and neutering pets to ensure their long-term health and safety.
